Accomplishments

One of our finest accomplishments — a fully accessible playground in Lion's Club Park

Caring Communities coordinators helped to secure 21,355 volunteer hours in the county—representing 46% of the four school districts’ population giving one-hour of service.

Young moms who participated in the MMP's Young Parents Program  completed high school or GED at nearly twice the national average - nationally only 33% of teen moms ever complete this educational milestone.

There were zero reports of substantiated child abuse and neglect among the children of young parents who participated in MMP programs.  National statistics demonstrate that children of teen parents are twice as likely to be abused and neglected.

100 % of 8th grade students who participated in Girls, Inc. programming reported that “they considered abstinence a positive choice".

Kindergarten readiness test scores  were significantly higher among children attending childcare programs supported by the Partnership than those who did not.  Partnership staff provided professional development training hours to childcare providers serving 1,500 children in four counties.

Capable Kids & Families served 19 counties and 76 families with 1,585 pieces of therapy equipment and supplies from their "lending program".  Families and therapists report an increase in developmental gains because of this program.

The Smile Mobile dental van served 1,872 children living in low-income households at 22 schools in seven counties.

Children of young parents who participated in Partnership programs demonstrate better health outcomes than children in the region and state.  100% of children are up-to-date on their immunizations (the state average is 80%) and none were born at low-birth-weight (the state rate is 7.8%).

The Capable Kids & Families introduced two new programs to schools in Phelps County (PEAK - Physical Education for All Kids), and (Circle of Friends), impacting 2,074 children.  100% of children participating in Circle of Friends reported an increase in friendships, and 100% of the PE teachers reported increased participation.
