Capable Kids and Families receives a donation from Theta Tau Omega

Large check presented to PCCP by Theta Tau

Shown here are members of Theta Tau, along with Partnership board members at an end of the year picnic for volunteers and community builders.

The Capable Kids and Families program received a donation from Theta Tau Omega, a group of student leaders from the UMR campus who are committed to helping the Rolla Community.

By donating time, effort and their leadership experience, these young men put on a variety of events throughout the year to raise money for community charities.

For the past several years, the proceeds from Theta Tau's annual Casino Night have been donated to CKF in order to purchase lending equipment to loan to families enrolled in the program.

10,000 POUNDS of CLOTHING!

group of volunteers among many clothes for sales

Lots of clothes and hardworking volunteers

Last Saturday, a group of hard working volunteers loaded, unloaded, and baled over 10,000 pounds of clothing!

The clothing items which are determined to be not sellable by the resale store staff will be sold for use in third world countries or as rags. The sale of the salvage clothing will be a good source of added income, so people should not hesitate to continue donating clothing to us This was our first foray into the world of clothes baling. Many thanks to TROY DUNCAN of A1 Moving & Storage, who arranged transportation and storage, as well as use of the baler with RUSS FALKENRATH of Recycling Works. These two volunteered 4 5 hours each as well as equipment and supervision of the rest of us less experienced! We could not have done it without our wonderful volunteers! Representative Bob May, Ray Kluczny, Rory McCarthy, David Erickson, Bruce Wade, Jonathon Wade, Kathy, Audrey, Amanda, and Nick Roshan, Justin Ausmus, Seth Perkins, staff members Kathy Reeves, Lucy Sutcliffe & Ryan Lucian, and, of course, Troy Duncan and Russ Falkenrath. THANK YOU!!!

OTHER RESALE SHOP NEWS...

We are beyond thrilled with the success of this new endeavor. We can't thank all of you enough who have donated your time or your goodies to this program. Just a quick progress report... Our wonderful volunteers have made it possible to run the store. In the first 2-1/2 months, they have logged OVER 335 HOURS sorting, pricing, cleaning; they do it all! There is one volunteer without whom we would probably still be trying to open our doors. TROY DUNCAN, a principle of Allied A-1 Moving and Storage, has helped with hauling, procurement, problem solving, networking, good will, publicity, and encouragement. Remember A-1 if you have moving needs, as these guys are terrific. Two other groups that donated a good deal of time to us: the OpenEdge Corp, part of a senior capstone class at UMR and a chemical training class of soldiers from Fort Wood. Former board member JIM REMILLARD found and delivered many of our clothing racks. We could go on but suffice it to say that without our volunteers, we couldn't have done it. To all of you, a heartfelt thank you!

And we can't go on without mentioning the amazing staff that is in place out there. Each uses their unique talents to make the Resale Shop a clean, welcoming, and organized place where shoppers can find bargains and treasures. We continue to receive wonderful donations. With the UMR students returning, we are looking for FURNITURE AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS. If you've been meaning to bring us some things, now is a good time to do so. We cannot, however, take mattresses. Our SUMMER SALE started last Thursday and all summer items are 50% off meaning most items are only 50 cents. Come by and take advantage of these great prices. If you haven't had a chance to stop by, please do so. We'd love to see you and who knows what treasure you might find! Our hours are Tuesday Friday, 9:30 5:30 and Saturdays, 9:30 12:30.
