Every child deserves a safe and secure home and the chance to call someone Mom or Dad. However, there are nearly 2,000 children in Missouri who are still hoping for just that, a home to call their own. For the past three years, the event has brought together over 150 children seeking adoption and over 200 families hoping to become adoptive parents.
One of our most important partners in this event is MS&T's Greek Community (the Interfraternity & Panhellenic Counsils), which provides hundreds of volunteers, a free cookout and family-style carnival of interactive games and booths. These activities give kids and families the opportunity to interact and learn more about each other.
This one day community-wide event held in September has resulted in permanent homes for at least 20 children. (Final number of adoptions resulting from Linking Hearts is difficult to quantify as many adoptions take several months to complete.) The children's ages range from 3 - 17 with multiple sibling groups.
